A new home for Spatial Alignments, improved screen selection tools, and more

Gravity Sketch 6.6.4 continues improvements on the AR experience, making it easier for teams to organize and access Spatial Alignments to confidently solve design problems across virtual and physical environments. Precision of selecting and manipulating objects on screen gets easier. Plus, a series of smaller updates improve your flow state within Gravity Sketch, reducing friction in your 3D workflow.

Aligning virtual designs to your physical space seamlessly

Spatial Alignments lock your virtual workspace to your physical environment when working and collaborating in AR passthrough. You now have the option to use QR codes as persistent anchors for these alignments. Using QR codes is especially helpful in large industrial spaces where standard tracking can struggle.

From a Gravity Sketch Room, you can scan a QR code while in passthrough to use as an anchor for a Spatial Alignment. Once a Spatial Alignment is created, others can join the Room and scan it to align to the physical space.

This approach makes it easier to access a Spatial Alignment, for evaluating human factors, assessing scale, and clearly communicating design intent with your team.

Please note that QR codes are only readable by Quest 3 and 3S headsets.

You’ll also find a spatial UI that lets you interact with dedicated alignment objects directly in 3D. Grab, reposition, and switch between your alignments without opening menus.

Another improvement to the experience is that boundaries are automatically disabled when you enter passthrough mode, so you can move freely around large physical models and spaces.

A new home for alignments in the Environment menu

Finding your alignments is now much more straightforward. The entry point for Spatial Alignment has moved out of the Online users panel and into a dedicated tab within the Environment menu. This new space is designed to give you a clearer view of all your existing alignments at once.

You can now name your alignments to easily identify them when switching spaces. The menu also shows you which alignments are active and if teammates are currently using them, so you can join them in the right space immediately.

Selecting objects on screen

Positioning objects in the screen experience (both desktop app and web browser) now offers similar precision to the VR app. The new Selection Mode Options Panel gives you flexible controls for selecting and manipulating objects. You can easily toggle your bounding box, choose between group or individual selection, and change Gumball orientations.

Precision workflows require predictable tools when adjusting your 3D models. You can now move the Gumball pivot to World or Object origin. This gives you the control you need without switching back to VR or exporting to traditional CAD tools.

Gumball snapping to 3D Grid in VR

Positioning content in VR feels more predictable with recent adjustments to the Gumball and 3D Grid tools. When the 3D Grid is on, the Gumball now snaps to the grid increments by default. Use the non-dominant controller trigger to override this and freely adjust data.

View imported object names in edit mode

When bringing complex models into Gravity Sketch, it helps to know exactly what you are looking at. You can now see the user-defined names of your imported objects, like specific part numbers, directly in your workspace. When you open an imported object in edit mode, its original name appears read-only right above the edit panel.

This makes finding and identifying specific parts much easier, especially when working with extensive CAD files or automated workflows. The feature is available by default for everyone working in a Room or Draft across both VR and Screen.
